Excavation & concrete contractor
Washington City & Washington Fields
Washington is where blue clay does the most damage in this valley. That changes how we build, before anything gets poured.
Washington City, UT
Local crew, local ground.
Washington City and the Washington Fields area sit on some of the most active expansive soil in the county. Chinle blue clay absorbs water, swells, and lifts whatever is on top of it: foundations, driveways, patios, walls.
That is not a reason to avoid building here. It is a reason to handle the subgrade properly instead of pouring over it and hoping. Where the clay is present we take it out and rebuild the base with compacted granular fill.
What is different about working in Washington City
- Expansive blue clay is common; the fix is over-excavation and engineered fill, not a thicker slab.
- Driveways and patios that have already heaved usually need the base rebuilt, not just a new pour.
- Drainage matters twice as much here, because water is what makes the clay move.
- Fast residential growth means builder pads, footings and utility trenches on a schedule.
- We do the dirt and the concrete, so there is no argument about whose fault the crack is.

FAQ
Questions we get from Washington City
Why does my Washington driveway keep cracking?
Almost always expansive blue clay under it. It swells when it gets water and lifts the slab. Repouring over the same base gets you the same crack in a couple of years; the base has to come out first.
Do you work in Washington Fields?
Yes, regularly. It is one of the areas where expansive soil shows up most, so we plan for it from the estimate on.
Can you fix drainage around an existing house?
Yes. Regrading for positive slope away from the foundation, plus swales or a French drain, is one of the most common calls we get in Washington.
