Northeastern Mohave County is Colorado City, Centennial Park, Cane Beds and Moccasin, cut off from the rest of Arizona by the Grand Canyon and connected to Utah by Highway 59 and Arizona 389. Colorado City is the largest settlement on it, and it is twenty minutes from our yard.

The county also reaches down the Virgin River corridor to Beaver Dam and Littlefield, which is low Mojave Desert and an entirely different kind of ground.

What to plan for in Mohave County

Septic permitting runs through Mohave County Development Services Environmental Quality at (928) 757-0903.
Arizona uses a Notice of Intent to Discharge under a Type 4.02 general permit; a passing perc test comes first.
A well has to stay at least 100 feet from the septic system.
Once construction is authorized you have two years to build it, then file for discharge authorization and a final inspection.

How does an Arizona septic permit differ from Utah?

It is a different system entirely. Arizona runs on a Notice of Intent to Discharge under a Type 4.02 general aquifer protection permit through the county, rather than a Utah health department septic application. A passing percolation test comes first either way.
